The First Step

It has been three months since I purchased the second house, and things are finally starting to happen!

The entire renovation project is MASSIVE and I can’t do everything at once. I have been working with my architect to determine the first step of the renovation so that I can take things one step at a time. The first thing that must happen is to completely replace all of the roofs and the terrace. Right now there is water intrusion in the house, so we need to ensure that it is solid and that no more water can get inside.

Today I received two renderings from the architect and his proposed plan and costs. The plan includes replacing all of the roofs and reconstruction of the terrace.

Rendering #1 of new roof and terrace

There is currently a wall on the terrace between the two houses that will come down during the renovation to bring both terraces together as one, large terrace. In the photos on the right you can see the wall dividing the terrace. There are two photos, one from each terrace, so you can see both sides of the dividing wall. You will notice that the floor of the terrace is covered in plants and debris (contributing to the water intrusion), and you can also see the brick and metal wall that was put up when the house was divided into two.

I know it is still a long time to come until the renovation is finished - but today I celebrate that at least we are finally getting started!
