Golden Circle Tour
Visiting the Golden Circle is a must-do activity. One of the best parts of Iceland is its beauty. Taking a tour of the Golden Circle was the highlight of my time in Iceland.
The Golden Circle is a scenic route that's about 149 miles (240 kilometers) long that takes you to some of the country’s most spectacular sights and attractions.
WHAT:
It's located near Reykjavík and the airport, making it a convenient day trip. If you book the tour below, they pick you up and drop you off.
WHERE:
This is an all-day, 9 hour adventure — and totally worth it!
TIME:
There are two stops to get food. One is a dairy farm that makes their own ice cream, and the other is a tomato farm where they have a full menu of items made with tomatoes (including tomato beer!). You’ll have to pay for your own food at both stops. Both are delicious!!
FOOD:
This tour is a special experience! Not only do you not have to worry about planning an itinerary or booking a rental car - you can just hop on their shuttle and spend the day seeing the best sights, eating the best food, and taking the best pictures. This tour is a must-do in Iceland!
WHY:
Sneak Peek of the Tour
Thingvellir National Park: The meeting point of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates!
Gullfoss Waterfall: A breathtaking waterfall!
Tomato Farm: All of the produce Icelanders eat is grown in greenhouses. This tomato farm produces 40% of the tomatoes for Iceland. While you are visiting the farm, you get to take a tour to learn about their production and distribution, including how they import insects and bees! It was fascinating! They also have a restaurant that has a very tomato-forward menu, including tomato soup, tomato beer, and tomato cheesecake! I had tomato soup (it’s all you can eat and comes with fabulous bread) and a tomato beer. YUM!!!!
Kerid Crater: This might have been one of my favorite stops…just because of the pictures, lol! You get to walk the rim of a volcanic crater lake — but the day I was there it was so windy that every time I tried to take a picture my hair went into my face. These are my favorite pictures from the trip!
These are just a few of the incredible things you can see an experience on this tour. Bottom line - you’ve gotta book this tour!
Geysir National Park: This park has the very first geyser that was discovered/named, so this is the reason why all the other geyers in the world are called geysers! This one has the most consistent one in the world, going off every 5 - 7 minutes!
